MAKE Asks: is a weekly column where we ask you, our readers, for responses to maker-related questions. We hope the column sparks interesting conversation and is a way for us to get to know more about each other.
This week’s question: Many superheroes have been known to be tinkerers as well as fighters of crime. What character(s) in the long history of comics is your favorite maker?
As a childhood fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, my pick is Donatello. After all, he “does machines” according to the theme song. I’ll also leave you with Neil DeGrasse-Tyson’s pick from this past week’s Comic-Con:
A @Comic_Con State of Mind: Iron Man — because he makes all his own stuff.

Tony Stark is quite the maker! Does anyone have more info on Bruce Wayne? Does he get all that “bat stuff” manufactured somewhere? That seems unlikely… does he make it all himself? Maybe he does, but it’s never shown. Or maybe he’s just buying off the shelf gadgets and hot gluing bats to them.
