Do you want to walk on Mars or climb a volcano? You can make it look like you are anywhere with a green or blue screen.

Green Screen w/ iMovie

This will teach you how to make a green-screen effect with iMovie, a free software package bundled with Macs.

Steps

Step #1:

  • Open iMovie.
  • Make a new project.

Step #2:

  • Open Preferences and select Show Advanced Tools
  • This will allow you to use the green/blue screen effect.

Step #3:

  • Now, take some footage in front of the green (or blue) screen. Try to keep the screen and subject evenly lighted.
  • Also, choose the photo or video for the background.

Step #4:

  • First, drag the background image/video.
  • Then, drag the green-screen video on top.
  • Select either green or blue screen, depending on what you used.
  • You can drag the green-screen footage depending on where you want it to start.
