FlutterBot robots won first and third place at the Eastern Canadian Robotic Games but their real talent is in teaching robotics, electronics and C programming to junior high and high school students and us old farts that want to learn C.Hi, Im Dr. George and I teach robotics to home-school students and at a summer camp that I started. Once my students burned through LEGO and Parallax robots I wanted to get started on a professional computer language with a real tool chain. I came up with the FlutterBot robot which uses the Atmel Butterfly, and the open source GCC compiler. In addition it turned out to be the perfect platform to introduce electronics. Students are much more interested in learning electronics if will help them connect sensors and motors to their robot.
Come to my workshop and see for yourself. You to can build a robot that is programmed in C, the language of choice for most embedded system programmers.
This workshop will be repeated on Sunday at 10:30 AM.
