Thrift Store Felting

Type: Workshop
Program Area: Craft

Day/Time: Saturday, April 22 1:30 PM (60 minutes)

Shannon Okey of knitgrrl.com will teach you how to create beautiful customized garments and other items out of even the most tattered wool pieces. Topics covered may include felting techniques, recycling yarn from thrift store sweaters, embroidery, sewing knitted fabric, steeking, dyeing and using add-ons such as grommets, beads and buttons, depending on class interest and time constraints.

Bring some or all of the following if you'd like to work during class or get advice on future projects: old sweaters, (felted or not; damaged / with holes is ok), yarn, tapestry needles, crochet hooks, scissors, embroidery floss, sewing needle & thread, various buttons, a niddy noddy, craft felt, spinning fiber, needlefelting needles, fabric scraps, etc.
