There are bunches of ways to make your own touchpanels, running the gamut from cheap to insanely expensive and from delicate to unbreakable. I will cover the different technologies that can be used, which applications they are most suited for, and their drawbacks and advantages. I will be drawing on my experience creating museum exhibits and in the AV industry.

My pre-grad school background is as a theatrical designer, electrician and technical director. I went to grad school at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU for interactive art and technology. I now work at BBI Engineering in San Francisco creating the software and hardware systems for interactive museum exhibits and the UIs and control systems for touchpanel based AV systems.
