Find Tools and Tips:Desktop Manager for OS X
http://desktopmanager.berlios.de/
One thing that's always bugged me about graphic user interfaces is having to move the windows around. Over the last ten years I've come to accept it as a lousy inevitability of using a computer. But this annoyance vanished in one fell swoop after I installed Desktop Manager for Mac OS X. This free application lets you set up as many virtual desktops as you want, which you can access with keyboard commands, or by clicking little iconic representations of the desktops.
Now I have a desktop for blogging (with Safari and Ecto), a desktop for email (Mail and Safari), one for scheduling (iCal and Life Balance), and several others. I think of the program as a way to give me a giant display albeit one that I can see only a section at a time. I can never go back to using my computer without this program.
