The joy of the Harmony 880 is in the set-up wizard, which is part of a personal on-line account you create on Logitech’s website. In the wizard, you select devices you want to control (DVD player, etc.) by manufacturer and product # and define activities—say, watch a DVD—which could include your receiver, video projector, and DVD player. Then you install the remote software on to your computer, connect the harmony 880 through a USB cable, and download the set-up to your remote. You will want to set up the activities even if all you want to do is turn two devices on, and flip through channels. If this sounds like a lot, it really isn’t. As you first use the remote, there is an on-screen assistant to fix any problems that appear. This is one seriously smart remote.
