Found this when I started glassblowing. I was amazed I had made it through life without it. You measure the diameter of an item at one end and the circumference is automatically computed at the other end. It is used in glass blowing to figure out how much glass rod is actually needed to cover the outside of an object. Very cool. It comes in different sizes too, the one listed here is the jumbo.
