$30 (US, estimated)

Some things in the computer industry were so far ahead of their time they did not gather a following until years after the parent company quit doing business. First sold in 1991, the Poqet “pocket” computer measured just 9” x 5” x 1” closed and sported near state of the art technology for its time. It included the Poqet PC Running DOS 3.3 (on ROM), a 25 line 80 character display and a keyboard large enough for touch typing, the Poqet could run for up to 8 hours on two “AA” cells. It stored programs and files on a pair of 1 MB RAM Disks, and accessories included a 3.5” floppy drive and an RS232 Serial Port.

Originally retailing for over $2000, it still has a following among folks looking for a low cost, lightweight, basic word processing tool. Refurbished units can be found on the Internet marketed by California Digital Inc.
