Sean Shrum's Shuffler
The iPod shuffle is probably the biggest-selling flash-based MP3 player in the world. Given that you can drag and drop files onto from any decent file manager (on Windows, Mac or Linux) you would think you could just copy your MP3 files onto the shuffle and listen to them.
Unfortunately, Apple wants you using iTunes. Which is where Sean Shrum's Shuffler application comes in useful. It's a small application that will scan all the files on your shuffle and rebuild the internal music database. Copy your music over from any host machine, run the database builder, and away you go.
