There are many ways to make a circular frame, in this video I show the process I use to create an oval, oak frame for a mirror. I use a simple technique to create the oval shape with two nails and a string. Cutting glass and mirrors is often thought to be complex. All you need is a glass cutter from the hardware store and some practice. I recommend finding broken glass in the trash and practice cutting with out the fear of messing up. Notice the way the grain pattern is to keep its strength and also makes a nice visual design.

Materials:

  • Oak wood
  • MDF for pattern
  • Glass mirror
  • String
  • Nails
  • Push points

Tools:

  • Bandsaw
  • Router
  • Palm sander
  • Tablesaw
