A few months back I made a spoon using the bandsaw. While I was making that spoon I was thinking on several different ways to make a wood spoon. The lathe was one method that was accessible to me. I wanted to experiment and see how the method will dictate the design.

Here you see me make a spoon using a chunk of Bubinga wood I had leftover from a project. I used vegetable oil to season the spoon. If it gets used, it will age nicely. Please Enjoy!

At about 1.57 is that a coin?

No, it’s actually a razor blade that’s been rounded off, then clamped in some vice grips. It’s a really good way to smooth the inside of a bowl/spoon/whatever you have that is bowl-like on the inside.
