In this episode of “Projects with Ryan Slaugh” I highlight using the Arduino Mini with the FTDI Friend. Normally, using an Arduino is as simple as plug and play into your USB. With the Mini, however, you need to use the FTDI Friend.
The Friend itself is a simple device that converts USB to serial that can then program the Mini. Using the Mini in your smaller projects is great and having the ability to easily program it with the Friend is even better. In this project, I will start with the simple hardware version of “Hello World”: the blinking LED. Then I add some more LEDs and a touch control for a bit of I/O exercising.
The code for this project can be found here.
