The following notes grew out of a search for a good pattern for sewing a cycling jersey using non-lycra fabric. I’m not a great fan of lycra jerseys for touring, preferring a somewhat looser fit and a fabric that doesn’t feel like a wet plastic bag after I sweat in it all day long. Wool is good for cold weather, and polyester for warmer conditions. Link.
No thanks. This is one area where I prefer to let big companies have at it. I build and maintain my own bikes, but I don’t thnk I’d want to sit on a poorly sewn seam all day or have some ill-fitting jersey making me crazy. There are plenty of bargains to be had at end-of-year sales, flea markets and on Ebay.
