Um, you could lose the snark any time and no one would miss it. Here’s a little background you might have missed while you were in the lab doing R&D on your nym.
I did the original C-Clamp food chain picture: it happened by accident while shootng illustrative photographs for a book. The foodchain meme didn’t occur to me until about 3 days later when I offloaded the images and actually looked closely at them, at which time I (a)pissed myself laughing st the giraffelike surreality if it and (b) posted the shot on my blog. Nick’s a fine fella (who has way more tools than me) so when the picture showed up here he picked up the idea and gave it legs.
