Those look more like galvanized pipes and fittings, not lead. I don’t think they ever sold lead pipe with barcodes on them.
Yup, I thought the same thing when I first saw it: iron pipes, not lead. You’d never get a thread like that on a metal as soft as lead. Lead pipes were joined by soldering, not by screw-threads.
Can you even buy lead pipe anymore?
Does anyone use the phrase “It’s a lead pipe cinch” anymore either?
Black pipe might look good too. I think everyone who has ever worked in a hardware store has come up with some sort of lamp built of pipe fittings.
BTW the threads are the same as electrical fittings, so you can screw your creation into a wall box if you want. Lamp nipples too; you can screw an entire lamp together from electrical, gas, and water fittings without any special adapters.
