Make Podcast: The Crucible Fires It Up At Maker Faire.

At the Maker Faire, Michael Sturtz, brought in his “Fire” truck complete with all sorts of resources to make things out of fire. The Crucible is a special place and community centered around the fire arts.

Skylar Fell is one of the teachers at The Crucible and shows us how she uses a mig welder.

Tara Murray showed the crowds at Maker Faire how to do lampworking. She’s wearing kevlar wrist warmers. One of the things that I noticed is that they had set up red gels and welding goggle “peep shows” so that the crowds could watch without burning their retinas.

I was very impressed by the teachers at The Crucible. Their passion for their work burns bright!

If you’re into fire and in the San Francisco area, The Crucible is putting on a fire festival on July 11-16, that looks like a blast!
