Getting a discount for an iPod destroyed by KOH/H2SO4/NaOCl is hard

Today is a sad day, my favorite blog entirely about high-level synthetic organic chemistry is closing.. But Dylan went out with a bang with his last post, returning a damaged iPod to get 10%, but it didn’t go so well… – “…if you return an old iPod you get 10% off on a new one. I said I had an iPod that was “damaged” and wanted to know if it would still qualify. Out of my backpack I produced a ziplock bag of iPod parts, destroyed by KOH/H2SO4/NaOCl. He inspected it for a moment, incredulous. The ploy was basically working in that he said it would probably still count, but then I asked if I could take his picture with the item. Big mistake.”Link.

Good news though, Dylan scored a column in Chemistry world, I’m going to subscribe just for that – Link.
