“Mountain Biking at night (or early morning) is a true blast.. Using headlamps has been the only real choice short of spending some coin on a true bike light (some of these puppies cost >$500!!).

While the lack of light never stopped us from riding, the glory of having a MEAN bike light was calling me out.”Link.

  1. How’s your depth perception with this light? One thing I’ve noticed when hiking with a headlamp is that you don’t see shadows, since the light is coming from the same angle as your eyes. Having the light down lower, maybe by the top of the fork, might help.

  2. Great job Douglas! Very clever running the MR-16 bulb on 18 volt battery pack. Has it burned out from the higher voltage yet? (I’ve heard that quartz halogens do better on overvoltage than undervoltage.) Check out my dual head bike light. I’ll be trying it with a 18v cordless drill pack soon!
