Here’s a RS-232 to USB Conversion Module. I just was studying for the General Class Amateur Radio exam using a the Gordon West book (GWGM-04) and its full of URL’s to Amateur related gear and sites. This one item caught my eye and I though some Maker’s could find some uses for it.

  1. ftdi has a $5 chip at mouser. FT235R I think.

it’s super easy to use too. Use the FT245R they are parallel out. and are faster.

  2. I JUST WANT A CHEAP RELIABLE WAY TO HOOK A MICROCONTROLLER TO MY POWERBOOKG4 AND HAVE THE PROGRAM RECOGNIZE IT!!!
(bought a “mac-compatible” RS-232 to USB adapter cord from the bay, but it doesn’t work for my BS2 project board and whatknot, but I do not want to pay for that 1 cord everyone recommends that is more $ than I’d want to pay for it >$20+ !! (keyspan I think?) Any hacks/ suggestions other than the obvious??
