I didn’t realize it was turn off TV week until it was emailed to me (I don’t have a TV, I’m sure there was in depth coverage I missed about it)…

Click. Click. Click-click-click.

That’s the sound of televisions in your neighborhood and around the country being turned off today, the start of TV-Turnoff Week.

For some kids, going seven days without television might sound like the worst kind of punishment. But for others, turning off the tube and finding different things to do is a fun challenge for the entire family.

TV-Turnoff Week started in 1995 as a way to get people thinking about how much time they spend in front of their TV and computer screens, and how that cuts into time spent with other people.

…and the Maker store sells TV-B-Gones, it turns off (and on) TVs. Pick one up and/or let the world(google) know how you feel about the existence of such a device – in the comments.

there was no in depth coverage that i saw on tv, maybe they covered the story on cable/satellite. of course i’m sure they don’t want you to turn off your tv for a week. thanks for the heads up.

    hell, i don’t even have a tv. i suppose I win.

  3. rabagley says:

I have a television set, but it’s more of a movie projector than a TV since it isn’t hooked up to anything other than my HTPC, DVD player, and VCR.

Maybe I’ll take any TV show DVD’s off my Netflix queue for the duration and contribute that way…

oh well, looks like i’ll just have to watch adult swim online now. heh.
