Hi! The concept is interesting but I’ve seen implementations of the RFID bookshelf in Singapore. It’s been coupled to other systems, circulation, security, data warehousing.
Noticed that the shelves are made of wood which means the RF signal will be received with minor attenuation. Have you tried your system with metal shelves, which are used by most organizations/libraries? Metal shelves are more realistic as a benchmark.
Have you overcome the problem of mis-scanning multiple books with thin spine?

I am not sure how effective this solution would be for cash-strapped public libraries. If you wanted rfid scanning resolution on a per shelf basis the costs might be high due to the number of bookshelfs.
However any large library (corp, law, etc) that does have the money could get great use out of this. I think a better market may be the home user. Sites such as librarything show just how many ‘normal’ people out there have a large collection of books. If those books are not well sorted finding and tracking them could be painful.
