Gakken Co., Ltd. was founded as a publishing company in Tokyo in 1946. Since then the company has grown to become Japan’s leading educational publisher with a staff of over 1200 employees and with sales of 821 billion Yen per year (about 6.5 billion USD).
Today, Gakken’s main business is in educational books and magazines as well as in other educational related products for nursery and school children. The company is well known to everyone in Japan from their kindergarten and school days.
