Diamond iPhone adds bling to your conversations

This diamond iPhone was made with 420 cut diamonds and sports a total of 5.65 carats. Pretty crazy way to embellish technology that might be getting a major upgrade in the months ahead. We just wonder how many iPhones could be bought for the amount the diamonds are worth.

Actually that would only be a few iPhones. An 0.01 carat diamond is only $3.65 (25 South African Rand) See http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/jsp/item/Item.jsp?Trade_TradeId=6216071

Calculating 550 of them to get to the correct total carat gives about USD 2000. At wholesale and with low grade diamonds the price could probably be cut in half.

The fact that they used 420 of 0.013 carats instead of 550 0.01 carats will probably not affect the price too much. Dust sized diamonds like that are cheap!

Yes. Only an idiot would fetishise this technology in this way. A mixture of years of intelligent meaningful technological development juxtaposed with centuries of ignorant arbitrary shiny magpie desire. Hell fire shoot the maker/buyer.
