AC/DC Shifter allows you to mix AC/DC tracks in real time

Ned Troide became famous for scoring 72,999,975 points on the video game Defender. It was the highest score ever recorded for the game in a single session lasting 62 1/2 hours. What is less known is that he also makes really interesting furniture. This “AC/DC” shifter device plays six songs of the band AC/DC simultaneously and allows for the tracks to be mixed in real time by using six tractor gear shifts.

  1. There’s also a very similar “Jazz Shifter” up on Mr. Davies site, so me thinks there’s some nom de plume borrowing going on … guess “Billy Mitchell” was a bit obvious.

Nevertheless, these look intriguing – too bad there’s no video/audio clips of them in action.

  2. the first time i showed this piece i called it the ‘jazz shifter’ – it was an electronic music-jazz music fusion show, but it was the genesis of the whole ned troide series and became the ac/dc shifter as it is properly
