Real world Mario

Arduino Craft & Design Fun & Games Technology

Keith Lam (a.k.a. The Demos) created a real life Mario game installation called “Moving Mario”. The video shows the artwork and describes a lot about the creation process. It would have been a lot easier to use parallax scrolling of the background, but the point is you actually MOVE Mario, not the background…and a moving TV is so much cooler. Watch the video for the build process and an explanation. – Link

    This is retarded.

Get back into the Nintendo, Mario…

the idea is cool. but the implementation is kind of pointless.

did it really need to take over two minutes to explain that you are moving the screen and not the background?

I would love to see a real try at this where it’s something you actually play. a mechanical Mario game would be interesting.

Pointless? Well, yes, most ‘art’ is kind of pointless in that way…..but I still love it.

And yes, if you could actually hop-on-top of an enemy, shoot fire balls, or go down a pipe and collect a hundred coins, that would be really cool.
