Instructables has another great how-to on building a small iPod video projector. I am not sure about the brightness of the final product, but it does not require any other light-source besides the the iPod itself. The information about the lens system is a good read, and may be useful in other projects. – Link

Reminds me of the old “projection TV” kits that were just a *big* convex lens to put in front of the CRT screen. Of course, as you make the picture bigger, the brightness dims proportionally….fainter and fainter….
