This cool project shows you how to hook up a Game Boy Color Rumble Pack by Nyko to the Nintendo Virtual Boy. If you are still lucky enough to have a Virtual Boy (or can find one on eBay) this hack is a nice way to add some more reality to the “virtual reality” promised by the Virtual Boy.

i miss my virtual boy, it got fried within 3 months of use (hours and hours of pinball on end).
I have one wasting away in a box somewhere. My ultimate goal was to work out the communications port (which was never used in a commercial game, and not documented) and do some kind of homebrew that could speak a protocol over the connection and have the virtual boy draw those commands. In other words, send commands to it from a PC or other device, and display it in 3D.
