I tied a disposable camera to a bench with a sign that read:
Good afternoon,
I attached this camera to the bench so you could take pictures. Seriously. So have fun. I’ll be back later this evening to pick it up.
Love, Jay / The PlugWhen I retrieved the camera that night, I was happy to find that the entire roll of film had been shot.
Great project to do in your local area!

I walk right past this bench every day. I didn’t even notice the cam…but what a great idea! Perfect location, too. Although, completely creepy to see my neighborhood (and some neighbors) in my RSS feeder this evening, I might put one of these down in L5P…Keep an eye out!
i have dreamt of doing things like this forever but in my local area someone would just steal it
At the skydiving dropzone I used to work at any camera left unattended was fair game for pictures of a generaly less classy nature.
where’s the make in that?
@april – making art is make. leaving a camera for other people to take photos and then artfully putting it together, inspiring others to do the same is 100% make.
Thats a pretty neat idea! I like it!
It got stolen :( Even the sign
Nice to see that this actually worked. I would have put considerable money on someone getting scared of a “mysterious box” and the bomb squad blowing it up; camera, bench, sign, and all.
Did a similar thing about 20 years ago. Had a polaroid camera on a tripod with instructions: push a button, take a shot of yourself and place it on the wall…got a wallfull of a pics on a wall!
