Blogs We Love: Craft Chi

This week, we’re showcasing some of our favorite craft blogs. If you’ve followed my blog at all, you might know that I have a slight … er … severe addiction to craft blogs. There is an incredible amount of inspiration, creative fun and fantastic community in craft blog land. Today, I thought it would be fun to highlight a fellow Austin craft blogger, Amy Ybarra Murphy of Craft Chi. Amy will also be participating in Bazaar Bizarre and will be presenting at the CRAFT demo booth at Maker Faire Austin .

Amy’s blog is a treasure trove of craft tutorials. She’s got a wide range of project types, from simple household items to clever printmaking methods. One of my favorite posts was her recent Rolling Pin Prints, which shows how to use a rolling pin and sticky-backed cork board to make easy repeating prints. Brilliant!

She’s also included several tutorials with downloadable instruction files. Her Embroidery Thread Cards, in both whimsical and ornate patterns, made my embroidery-loving heart go pitter pat.

Amy’s tutorials are always clearly written and heavy on good step-by-step photographs, making them incredibly easy to follow.

Amy also designs and sells some adorable tiny stamps that come stored in recycled floppy disk containers. She’ll have these stamps and more at her booth at Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire. You can catch her demonstration, “Thermofax Basics: Printing on Fabric and Paper,” at the CRAFT booth in the Maker Shed at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 19.
