  19. Ange says:

I need this book for two reasons:
    1. I live in Portland and can make it to the reading! How awesome would it be to say, “Hey, I won your book on this fabulous website! If I buy a copy for my mother-in-law, will you sign it?”
    Which leads me to…
    2. My MIL is a crafting queen and I’m feeling somewhat inadequate. She sews, quilts, scrapbooks and whatever nifty crafty thing you can think of. I can only knit (not very well, but very productively), cook (very, very well, so at least I have that) and paint (walls, that is). Could you please, please, please help me gain her favour in producing gorgeous, authentic family heirlooms that will make her scrapbooking, tradition-loving heart go pitter-patter?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’ve been following Alicia’s blog for a couple years now and am so excited about her book.
I come from a long line of women who do amazing handwork, quilts, sewing, embroidery, candlewicking, knitting. And while I am an avid knitter, a backslidden cross-stitcher and I do sew a little, I have a very good reason for “needing” this book. However, I am not sure if I dare say exactly why. I’m worried that my friends will read this and find out my big secret.

  31. cami says:

Because I love collecting crafty idea books which allow me to procrastinate on getting anything actually completed.

  52. Meg says:

I need this book to help me use up all the fabric and linens I’ve collected at yard sales over the years. I need it to make one of those sweet dollies, just like the ones I had when I was a girlie (and still have, bless those tattered old things), for my stepdaughter. I need to pore over its pretty pages during the long, cold, dark winter months ahead, while I munch some homemade bread and plan next year’s Christmas gifts. I need it to help me make Christmas stockings, ornaments, and placemats — all of life’s necessities! I need it. Pretty please. Thank you. (I also need 24 hours a day and 7 days a week free forever so I have the time to make these things. Can I have that, too?)

I wish Alicia was my sister!I would be at her home everyday hoping her ideas and craftieness would some how rub off on me through osmosis or something like that.I love every thing Posie/Paulson. Unfortunatley, she is not my sister so I NEED THIS BOOK! Pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry?

I have always loved Alicia’s work and admire her faithfulness to her gift. And although this book title is on my own wishlist this year, I would ultimately like to receive a copy and give it to my sister. She is years beyond me in experience (in sewing, design, & photography), but I know with a full-time job and a newborn, creative time is a luxury she does not see too often. This book, both the projects and the photography, are absolutely breathtaking. I want her to have a book that bids her to dream of the possibilities. Included in gifting this book, I will offer my services to make a few of her favorite projects. It would be my joy to do this for the sister I have always loved and admired!

Hi! I am a college undergrad who would absolutely LOVE to get a copy of Alicia’s book. I’ve followed her blog for years, and it has never failed to inspire and uplift me. There’s just something so satisfying in making something with your very own hands. In Alicia’s blog I’ve found a comrade-in-arms in this view that many of my twenty-something peers don’t share. Thanks to the online community and the accessibility of publications, I have discovered a whole “family” of crafters who share my love!
So it would mean a lot to me to get this book- not just for its innate qualities as a wonderfully written and beautifully photographed work, but also as a reminder of one of the awesome people who’ve helped me to define crafting not as a simple hobby, but as a way of living life. :-)

So many beautiful projects! That’s why.

  244. chelsea says:

I actually thought I preordered this book and was trying to figure out why I hadnt’ received it. Sad news is, I HAD preordered it but it was for my last mailing address and I couldn’t change it without cancelling the order. So my order got cancelled and I haven’t yet ordered a new copy. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if I didn’t have to go through the ordering process again?

  245. Patty in Kansas says:

If I won a copy of Alicia’s new book, it might actually make me feel better about our little poodle, Emma, swallowing my husband’s hearing aid. (I am not making this up). I love Alicia’s blog….it always makes me smile at the end of each day. Patty in Kansas

I am so grateful that I found Alicia and her blog. She never ceases to inspire and light that creative spark just when I need it the most. Whenever I’m having a gray day, I’ll go to her blog and feel energized to create, to cook, to sew, and to laugh – I love that. Her photography is amazing, and I am just as excited about all of the beautiful images in this book as I am about it’s contents.
Alicia is an incredible writer, and it is only too perfect and natural that she has done this book. I would absolutely love to have it!!

A few years back I decided I wanted to do something I really love and finally in the coming months I will get that chance…my husband and I will move house and start new careers….I have resigned from my job to study and craft full time…. so mostly I want to say thanks for all the inspiration and I would love a chance to win a copy of Alicia’s new book…so please pretty please pick me! lots of love Nadine…p.s. thanks for the free stocking pattern I am going to get started straight away. x

  276. Miss Dottie says:

And I’ll just have to add my name to the growing list. Oh Craftzine people, this must be tough–there are some great comments here–from Diedre and her darling little girls Sage and Matilda, to people vying with other crafty family members to one-up their game.
I would like the book because I always felt Alicia was a kindred spirit in the crafting world, dreaming and scheming ways to add a little craft joy to our lives–whether it be embroidery on a pillow case or making exquisite Christmas tree ornaments.
Today, my sweetie and I just put in a bid for our first house which will surely be a craft explosion as soon as we get the keys. And I’m finishing up my most important craft project due in February–a baby and would love to find inspiration from Alicia’s book to add just a little bit more childhood into my baby girl’s life.
Thanks and I LOVE CRAFT MAGAZINE! It was love at first site on the newstands.

  277. Fiona says:

I’m getting a sewing machine for Christmas and would love some patterns to practise!

But sometimes the one of the boys are on the computer and I feel myself going crazy But if I had her book to look at and dream of completing her projects in my free time then you would be saving me tons of counseling bills. If you want to keep this Florida mom sane PLEASE pick me. Thank you for featuring Alicia and doing this give-away.

She attracted me to this type of work and I am an now hooked to new forms of handcraft than cross-stitch, my long-time passion. I’ve ordered supplies to do some of her creations and already did two of her felt ornaments.
Plus, I’m be happy to represent Poland and Norway in this draw and would love to spread word about this wonderful book among my talented friends and be able to show it!:)

  286. Stacey says:

I really appreciate give-a-ways. Since our economy is declining rapidly, it seems alot of people are like me. Wanting nice gifts, without the nice price. I just started sewing earlier this year. I am branching out and looking for new things to make for gifts this holiday season. I would love to have this book to show me new patterns and ways to make gifts for me and those on my list.

  287. craftylittlemonkey says:

I’ve been admiring this lovely book for a while now and I’ll be so excited to discover the jems that I’m sure are hidden inside. From the quick peak I’ve had I can tell that the dollies are particularly adorable with their sweet little yarn hair and lovely frocks. I know my daughter would cherish one of them forever.
I love books with projects I can use recycled materials for, I really like incorporating a favourite article of clothing into something new and wonderful for the kids. This book looks like just the thing for some more upcycled crafty mama gifts for them and other friends and family.
I think it’s so incredible that a fellow crafter has published such a professional and terrific looking book. It’s certainly inspired me to think that maybe I could do that myself one day.

  288. Karin says:

I’d love to have this book as I want to continue to carry on the traditions of my mother, my mothers mother and my mothers mothers mother etc as they used their hands to create so many things with care, love and patience. There’s something special about creating something with your hands that is useful, unique and beautiful. Most of all, I just love to see what others create especially the beautiful pictures.

I would love to have one of the books for a couple of reasons. I really enjoy reading her blog and get inspired regularly. I have been starting to do some crafting this year and have actually MADE several Christmas presents (I’m so proud!) and, I’m a transplanted Pacific Northwestern-er who misses the rain, fog, mist, beautiful scenery and all things from that area. Alicia’s crafts are the perfect thing to do while being cozy in front of a fire!

And I would LOVE to have this book, because I just recently got my own sewing machine, and started stitching regularly (taught myself, I’m kinda proud!) and I don’t own any stitch books! And I know Stitched In Time is great because I’ve wishfully flipped through it :)

My goal this year is to make all my gifts for the holidays. This book will send me on my way to an incredibly crafty start. Handmade is so much more personal and fun and I have a stash of materials that desperately need to be made into gorgeous projects. I’d love to win a copy of Alicia’s book because I got my first sewing machine last Christmas and have been practicing, practicing, practicing and my projects finally seem to be turning out more how I envision them–it’d be awesome to have some new inspiration and new projects to tackle. Thanks for the contest!

  316. indigobayou says:

Ok, I am very proud, yet slightly hanging my head in shame. At 40, yes 40, I am just starting to flex my tiny crafting muscles. Having an 8 yr old daughter that is interested in doing projects together has stretched my interest in more than just lurking in craft blogs admiring the pictures. Now I am actually SEWING, learning to knit, and much, much more. This book would be perfect for our first endeavors together and to create those special memories, not of talents passed down from one generation to another, but of talents learned together, side by side.
Thanks for considering us (yes, my daughter, Autumn, is reading this over my shoulder)!

  317. Lori says:

I’d love to win this beautiful book! Alicia does such wonderful crafting. It’d help me get organized for a homemade Christmas.

  318. Kiel Lemon says:

I have been a big fan of Alicia’s since discovering her blog about 2 years ago. She is an inspiration, and it has been incredible watching this book develop from conception to the final product! I love the way she adds a personal touch to all her creations, and this book is no exception! I would love to have her book, but my husband is a minister, and we are on such a small budget that I cannot afford it right now. Perhaps this contest will be my chance!

  319. Jennifer N says:

I would love to have a copy of this book. We’re having a low-budget crafting/creating Christmas this year . . . not spending money where we don’t have to. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t look for ways to create something beautiful. This book would definitely help us accomplish our goal. Thanks for the offer.

  320. Tine says:

I need to win this book, because it looks absolutely fantastic! And I’m living in Europe…for some reason noone here sell the really cool craftbooks :( So this is a great chance for me to get this!

  321. Tracy says:

I love her blog and her dog!

  322. Abigail says:

I’d be over the moon if this book made its way to my house! The little bits I’ve seen online are beautiful and I’d love to make so many of the projects. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll loan it out to my very crafty sister (if I can bear to part with it).

I have a lot of crafting to do, and could use a little help!
Oh! and times are really tough right now… I am the type of person who would spend my last dime on this beautiful book over say, groceries… because I am a big believer that crafts and making something beautiful can feed the soul…so winning this book would be a real treat right now.

The stockings are adorable, but look at that sweet little garland!

  340. Shayla says:

I actually have a very personal reason to want a copy of her book – whether I win one here or save the money up to eventually buy it. Two years ago I was in a car accident and suffered whiplash, a shoulder and back injuries. Unfortunately, I haven’t healed as well as could have been expected and developed some secondary problems. In an issue of the Hallmark magazine I found at the library, Alicia was interviewed and mentioned how healing she found crafts after she was in an accident. I found that personally very inspiring, inspiring enough to want to start to work with my hands again – as much as my shoulder will let me. I find her to be a truly beautiful person, inside and out. She gives hope to those of us who need it. Until I get the book, I will continue to read her blog religiously.

  341. Annie says:

Ah, I have been eyeing this book! I got a new sewing machine for my birthday and I need some inspiration to start cranking out the projects!

  346. Peggy says:

  347. Karen Thompson says:

When I ponder Alicia’s adorable crafts and sift through her whimsical blog, I am filled with warm, fuzzy memories of when I had my mother in my life… whom I lost to cancer at the age of sixteen. My mother was an “at home mother” to three children, as I am, now, to two of my own. I, like my mother, also love to make and create things for and with my girls as she did for me and my siblings. It warms my heart to give my girls the same warm fuzzy crafting memories that my mother gave to me – the warmest, fuzziest memories never fade. I am honored to be married to a police officer, which tells you that I am on a limited income so this book would truly feel like a sweet blessing to me and my family.
Thank you for your consideration and happy crafting!
