Gas Mask Kazoo

200902121353

Joel Veitch and his pals from Rathergood made “gigantic, nightmarish” kazoos out of gas masks.

I have acquired some old Soviet gas masks, sent over from Berlin. They are absolutely nightmarish, as you can see from this photo. The Soviets weren’t happy with simply making them functional, they made them look like something from depths of hell as well. What to do with these wonderful things? Well, I thought I’d have a crack at turning them into KAZOOS! Here is the video documenting my attempt.

Video is here.

  1. Don’t ask me why I know this, but those type of gas masks already have that “feature” stock. The semi-primitive one way air-valve on the front, designed to allow air out, but not in, uses that drum skin he refers to in the video as it’s primary mechanism. I had one years ago, and I used to hum the imperial Death March while where it’s compulsively for that very reason.

The video is cool, and they may have enhanced the effects slightly, so I hate to say it, but I kind of have to call BS on their make-ee-osity on this one.

  2. Hey man, you can make it into a bong. It is awesome. Just attach a bong, or steam roller, create a seal with electrical tape, or a nice coupler. Close your eyes or something though, the smoke will hurt your eyes, but you will get messed up

  3. Please tell me I’m not the only one that immediately thought of Half Life 2 and the high pitch screech of lifesigns monitors indicating a flat line when looking that the photograph.
