Safe Arduino-controlled light switch

Oomlout sells a nifty $20 kit to mechanically control a light switch using an Arduino.

No need to play with the wiring just bolts onto any standard light switch.

Doesn’t interfere with normal operation. (there’s still room to flip the switch on and off manually)

The project possibilties are endless. (automatic nightlight, motion sensing, controlling electrical sockets, your own homebrew clapper, etc.)

  1. The Oracle says:

I’m not sure it’s that practical for a light switch (easy enough to hack a commercial IR-based product), but this is great for so many other real-world interface projects.

Pressing the button on a cheap camera, operating a mechanical latch, etc.
