Salvaging an old VCR

Craft & Design Technology

I guess I really should salvage my old VCR. There are some useful components in there! (Via Why, That’s Delightful!)

I have a photo here of the parts that I salvaged from a Philips VR2022 video recorder. It was a shame to have to scrap out a Video 2000 machine, but all attempts to give it away to a collector had failed.

Was this written as a grade 7 special needs class project. God that sucked.

Oh come on, it had me going untill the GPS. I give them credit for the little monster too. Thanks for posting stuff like this from time to time.

Why is this on Make? It doesn’t belong here. This is just stupid.

    think about it “A”
this is very make related. all true makers, are also scavengers. we take things apart to get… stuff. and this is comedy (hey i thought it was amusing) based on that.

Regarding whether or not this is something that belongs on Make… why not? Do you think they’re going to run out of internet anytime soon?

  9. Pragma says:

Weren’t those the same batteries from the “Car Battery Hack” spoof posted last time?

Space available is a very poor way to maintain standards. Along the lines of this logic, MAKE might as well host porn while they’re at it, “hey, they are not going to run out of space”

Anyway, I’m just sad to see wimp.com and make converge like this, but I do look forward to make and 4chan getting together.

I see quality of content standards in MAKE’s future…or maybe not.

woops, just checked wimp.com and this video already made it there.

  12. Gareth Branwyn says:

This isn’t the sort of thing we post very often. I thought the video was funny, especially given the controversy those battery hacking vids generated a year and half ago. And just given the fact that DIY tutorial vids have become prevalent enough to be spoof-worthy.

But yeah, don’t worry, we don’t plan on trying to give CollegeHumor any competition.

wow, thats two minutes of my life I won’t get back.

I am concerned by some of these comments. It seems to me that prolonged exposure to Make results in a complete loss of ones sense of humour. Maybe this site should carry a warning.

  15. Mig says:

I liked it also. For the record.

Seeing this makes me feel much better about not renewing my subscription to Make:.
