Eiji Hayashi, a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon, built this ingenious game out of an Arduino Mini and a matrix of LEDs which double as light sensors, triggered by a laser pointer. See Hayashi’s website for schematics and source code.

Eiji did a great writeup on how this works and included clear source code. Did anyone find the video he mentioned though? It’d be cool to see this build in action.
