After a successful first weekend of quilting by yours truly, I wanted to keep practicing. I tried an interpretation of Susan Beal’s “Cheerful Pot Holders” from her new quilting book. It’s not perfect, but I’m getting better with each try! I was excited to see that many other bloggers have been trying variations of her patterns, too! How often do you take a pattern and make it your own?

PS: One pattern I love that’s also fun to change the details of is Christine Haynes’ Retro Shift Dress from Chic & Simple Sewing. I’ve made it with a gathered neckline with a button embellishment and added a sash. My friend Diane made a self casing for an elegant little belt for hers and it was such a nice update too.
