Check out this enchanting Princess and the Pea embroidery pattern. When I was growing up, I longed for Disney to make their version, piled high with gorgeous linens and interesting patterns and textures, but I guess she is a bit of a wimpy heroine! Still, I have a soft spot in my heart for that tender princess. (Via Once Upon a Thread.)

If you’ve never had the chance, check out the musical version, called Once Upon a Mattress. Winnifred, the princess of the tale, is anything but wimpy! (the role was originated by Carol Burnett, if that tells you anything.) There’s no movie, but several soundtracks and a few TV versions, including one from 2005 that was pretty good.
