The new curtain at the Oslo Opera House was commissioned from LA-based artist Pae White. It was reportedly created using a CNC loom weaving three different kinds of fabric to render a raster image of a scanned piece of crumpled aluminum foil. [via CRAFT]

the stuff you can do with a jacquard loom is pretty amazing. they inspired Babbage’s difference engine and IBM adopted their punch cards as a data system.
I only have 2 questions –
1) Is it conductive?
2) If I sew a hat out of it, will it block the CIA/FBI/Illuminati mind control rays?
Just looking at it, I can hear the crinkle sound of the foil. If I were in the room, my ears would be constantly cringing in anticipation.
That’s a lot of effort to make something so incredibly unattractive :P
