Robot Film Festival

Is this the world’s first Robot Film Festival? I think so! The deadline to submit a film is June 5th. So if you have a robot and a video camera, now is your robot’s chance to walk (or roll) down the red carpet in New York City!

Please submit your outstanding, dazzling, hilarious or thought-provoking short film. Just one requirement: Please feature a robot as one of the main characters as or framing devices of the narrative. Films should be one to eight minutes long. The Robot Film Festival was founded by roboticist Heather Knight of Marilyn Monrobot to inject a sense of playfulness into traditional science and engineering and explore new frontiers for robotics before the technology is even possible.

    1. I’m trying to figure out that too. The site isn’t too specific if the robot has to be a functioning robot or, in your case a person in a robot suit.
I think the intent is probably for the former but who knows?

  1. Robots can be real or fictional! So animation, puppetry, costumes, research robots or ones you made yourselves are all eligible!! We want to leverage storytelling to explore exciting robotic futures, ethics, fun and implications of human-robot friendships, collaborations, interactions…

Let’s explore new memes for robotics! Whether for education, entertainment, home companions or the performing arts!! Robot project bloopers welcome too! :-) Ever seen the researcher chasing his errant skiing robot in Slovenia? Hilarious!!
