Handmade Mr. T Doll

Our pal, Garth, of Extreme Craft had a most amazing garage sale score this weekend when he and his wife stumbled on this handmade Mr. T doll.

The woman who made the doll had actually made three of them back in the day. They’ve been sitting in boxes for around twenty years, waiting for the right people to come and “adopt” them. I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful this doll is–all of the seams are triple-stitched, the eyes have this kind Buddha-esque look in them. The bling is beautifully rendered out of chains and elastic gold thread. Magnifique!

I’m having a hard time refraining from making a “I pity the fool…” comment here, so I just recommend going over and reading more on Extreme Craft.

That is the most awesome doll I have EVER seen.

This isn’t fair! I’m so jealous and I want one too! Someone must track this woman down and make her construct more dolls, then open an Etsy page!!

This pattern was designed and sold by Miss Martha Originals, Inc. in the early 80’s.
