MakerBot Replicator 2Xs Now Available in the Maker Shed

After a brief hiatus, MakerBot is getting back into dual extrusion and ABS printing. The flagship MakerBot Replicator 2X is the “advanced” version of the immensely popular Replicator 2 and it’s finally here and available right now in the Maker Shed!

Unlike the Replicator 2, the 2X model is optimized for ABS printing. It features a heated bed and a clear acrylic enclosure to resist warping (and to keep young fingers from the hot bits.)  The Rep 2X also has dual extruders, opening up even more printing possibilities. In additional to printing with two different colors you print with two different materials, which is perfect for support structures. You can also use the side by side extruders to print two small objects at the same time. The extruders themselves have been upgraded as well. They now use a spring-loaded bearing to press against the filament, preventing jams and making filament changes a snap. Like it’s PLA printing brother the Replicator 2, the 2X prints with 100 micron resolution.

If you’ve been waiting for the new hotness from MakerBot, head over to the product page now and grab one before they’re gone!
