What happens if you buy a MaKey MaKey interface board for your kids, can’t find any suitable games, and want an excuse to hack something together with the Loom Game Engine? Whack-A-Mole, with potatoes!
The game is free to download, open source, and easily customizable with your own bitmaps for the moles.
It is a great way to get kids engaged with electronics and programming. I continually tweak the game according to suggestions from my little customers.
It is quite remarkable how much more fun it is to hit potatoes rather than keys on your keyboard. I also like to encourage experiments on the physical properties of different vegetables.
It only takes a few minutes to turn children, friends (or enemies!) into moles…
