Machine knitter Donatella of inspiration & realisation turned a famous M.C. Escher woodcut called “Sky and Water I” into a tessellating knitting pattern that she used to make a fantastic sweater. Although these images would work fairly well as a fair isle pattern, Dontella chose to convert the pattern into a double bed jacquard motif to avoid floats and the results were clearly worth it.

Pretty sweater! This design would never work as fair isle. The floats would be much too long! Donatella knows her stuff and did what had to be done.

Of course it would work, you just latch up the floats as you go!
