The inner comic book geek within my nerd exterior is about to go into overload! On May 1st of this year, a movie millions of us have been eagerly anticipating will finally debut and personally, I am STOKED! Naturally, I am referring to The Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Since I am a collector of numerous comic books and proudly showcase them in my home, it felt fitting to craft a display for them as an homage to the larger-than-life essence of The Avengers. After some brainstorming, I settled upon the idea to make a bookcase/display-case resembling The Avengers logo.
What started out as a crude sketch of a basic concept evolved into a 3D multiple-level cardboard logo that can hold comic books, novels, DVDs, and toys.
Check out some of my pictures that show how I went from a sketch to a wall-mounted bookcase:
- The process to make a bookcase starts with a crude sketch
- The Avengers logo traced on cardboard
- The traced logo is cut out and hand copied/cut over 30 times
- All layers are glued together into the proper sections
- Each section is spray painted either red or black
- The border and back cardboard hanging brackets are glued on
- The hanging bookcase empty
- The hanging bookcase full with comics, novels, DVDs and toys
Share your thoughts and let me know what other superhero logos should become bookcases.
Cheers and “Avengers assemble!”
