I love the work Marius Watz has been producing as MakerBot artist-in-residence. I love even more the idea of a maker business being able to afford to sponsor an A-I-R! I wonder if, one day, we’ll see successful maker organizations like hackerspaces routinely sponsoring their own artist?
I am very excited to be the first ever MakerBot artist-in-residence. I will be testing the MakerBot as a means to prototype parametrically modeled objects, building geometries in Processing and outputting them as STL files.
Models will be posted for download on Thingiverse: thingiverse.com/watz.
Thanks to Bre Pettis and the whole MakerBot crew for the invitation and the generous support!

NextFab Studio in Philadelphia has hosted 2 artist in residence from The Center For Emerging Visual Artists and plan on hosting more in the near future.
Marius, you always do cool stuff, but what the hell IS that amourphous blob? It haunts me like a pregnant cthulhu with head chopped off.
