I’ve been doing this for quite a while now (I’ve done a total of 5 now). Some quick tips:
*Most portable phones don’t give out that much power to the speakers/mic. If you can, desolder the internal mic and speaker, don’t piggy back. Otherwise get a 6 prong switch (two rows of 3) and wire the mic and speaker through it along with the external headset mic and speaker.
*Jacks are easy to get, and easy to put in. Go grab a jack that is compatible with your headset and has the appropriate ammount of lines.
*Quality in the headset does somewhat matter. Especially the mic. Make sure your headset isn’t garbage BEFORE you do any soldering.
