Wow, did that ever bring back some pleasant memories from my long ago youth. Carl and Jerry were my heroes. I started reading every issue of Popular Electronics when I was 11 and I got a subscription. I got my ham license shortly thereafter. I still have the same call sign 48 years later.
Maybe that’s one reason I like “Make”. I built a number of interesting projects from those old PE’s and “Make” sure reminds me of that.
I don’t know if it would be possible to re-create the Carl and Jerry stories today.
They just don’t come up with lines like:
“Oh, fine! I didn’t know we had one!” ejaculated Carl.
While talking about tele tattletales anymore.
