This Week in Hobby Robotics (pilot)

I’m happy to present the pilot episode of an upcoming weekly MAKE video called This Week in Hobby Robotics, a roundup of interesting things happening in the world of — what else — hobby robotics. It’s hosted by Frits Lyneborg and Rik (no last name, please). Frits (from Denmark), who works professionally in web concept development, is the creator of, a very popular international source for hobby roboticists. His cohost Rik (from Holland) is part of the team that runs and assists its online community. Rik says he gets friendly mocking from his friends for not making more robots, but shrugs it off. Some day he will make a robot to do the shrugging. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding the launch of this new series.

    Nice show guys !
To go with the “flavor” of the show Rik needs to be mounted on a mobile platform and controlled remotely (by him) from the internet. I could help if your interested.

Indeed a fantastic idea,Grog, and I know you can do it :) I’m just drowning in projects here, you know, we are still trying to get the robot soccer players online – and I promise you that we will feature that, and we will need your help on that one, once we get the players moving :)

That IS a fantastic idea, Grog. Once we get the robot soccer players up and running, I am sure we can adapt some of your works for this one :)

    Awesome show. I have 2 comments/suggestions.
    1. Have Rik in a separate monitor. ( Although it might take away from the homebrew vibe of the show)
    2. If there’s no new action on the robotics scene don’t put out an episode with fluff, just to make sure its weekly. I’d rather have a variable schedule of good stuff than filler.

    Keep up the good work!
