Neat site of Jim’s Mac Aquariums he built – I built my first MacQuarium in June, 1995. It was a 2 1/2 gallon acrylic tank fitted into a Mac 512kE case. It looked good but burst a seam a couple hours after filling. This was no suprise since I know A Great Truth – I never do anything right the first time. Unfortunately, no video of this tank was taken and so no pictures are available. I ripped it to shreds in a fit of disgust and went back to the drawing boards. Link.

The Green Building is humming, and not just from activities in its labs and offices and classrooms. Thanks to Carrie Bodle (SM Visual Studies 2005), Building 54 has been turned into a giant speaker, resonating with sounds from the upper level of the Earth’s atmosphere. Every day, through Friday, Sept. 16, from 12-1 p.m., “Sonification / Listening Up,” a large-scale sound installation using 35 speakers installed on the south facade of the building, will broadcast an abstract sound collage generated from research data collected in the ionosphere. 
This game eliminates intimidation of many kids and their parents, bored by the mention of “computer programming”, often associated with visions of geeky guys glued to their computers. c-jump reveals simple programming terms in a cool way! [

These are pretty clever. Pronunciation: ‘dik-sh&-“ner-A-O-ke – Definition: Audio clips from online dictionaries sing the hits of yesterday and today. The fun of karaoke meets the word power of the dictionary. 
Nice HOW TO via #joitto on IRC – Apple’s GarageBand is a great piece of software for making music. Its not a pro-application though and wont interface with all sorts of fancy real time control devices. Anyway, if you are using software that came free with your Mac you probably are not investing thousands in outboard control gear anyways. That means that when it comes to making dub, you just cant have the same feeling as when you are working in a studio with a mixing desk…
