Circuit bender Dr. Bleep built this sweet Arduino-compatible drum machine, the Bleep Drum, with four sounds, four selectable sequences, tap tempo, record and playback, and more. Of course it’s open source and eminently hackable.
The Atmospheric Gas Detector Kit, which includes two Arduino-compatible gas sensors and the book Atmospheric Monitoring with Arduino, is now available in the Maker Shed. Use the sensors together to accurately measure ground-level air pollution and store the data for future analysis, or create a device for gas leakage detection in your home.
Arduino forum member Romano d’Ezzelino designed this pinout diagram and a bunch of others including one for the ATtiny and another for the ATMega1284p. The designs are Community Commons licensed. [via Adafruit]
One of the best things about the Ultimate Microcontroller Pack is that there’s a multitude of projects you can do without sourcing additional components. This variety makes it a great choice for both beginners and advanced users.
Right now there are two new micro-controller boards seeking fundingโone on Kickstarter, and the other on Dragon Innovation’s new crowdfunding platformโthat are slightly different. These boards aren’t just yet another Arduino clone, or yet another possible “Raspberry Pi killer.” These two boards, the Tessel from technical.io and the Espruino from Pur3, intend to take the path least travelled and co-op an existing community not traditionally associated with the maker community.
The Monday Jolt is a new column about microcontrollers and electronics that appears in MAKE every Monday morning. Lego Mindstorms NXT is a fantastic educational robotics set that teaches kids and adults skills ranging from engineering to programming. Nevertheless, wouldn’t it be cool to enhance those Lego robots with Arduino boards and shields? With that […]
